The Vietnamese diplomat made the statement at the UN Security Council’s first open online debate on the UN cooperation with the OIF on Tuesday.
The debate was attended by OIF General Secretary Louise Mushikiwabo, UN Assistant Secretary-General Bintou Keita, and Armenia’s Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan who is also President of the Ministerial Conference of Francophonie.
Ambassador Quy lauded OIF’s contributions to the UN operation evidenced by via OIF members’ involvement in the UN’s peacekeeping missions, conflict prevention, and programs on women, security, and peace.
He urged the OIF to continue working in the UN to promote multilateralism, settle disputes peacefully, prevent and reconcile conflicts, and join the UN peacekeeping forces.
