Co-chairing the 8th Vietnam-Australia Defense Policy Dialogue in Hanoi on Tuesday with Deputy Secretary of the Australian Department of Defense Hugh Jeffrey, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien urged enhanced cooperation, particularly in military medicine, post-war recovery, defense industry, and border management, as well as full implementation of the Peacekeeping Partnership Arrangement.

Deputy Secretary Jeffrey expressed hope that the two sides would explore additional areas and forms of cooperation. 

On the East Sea issue, he emphasized the need to maintain respect for national sovereignty, international law, and common rules. The two sides signed a three-year cooperation plan for 2025-2027.
