Addressing the event, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said the prevention and fighting HIV/AIDS was one of the Vietnamese government’s top priorities and that, with a joint effort, Vietnam has gradually contained HIV/AIDS. Vietnam pledged to join the international community to prevent HIV and wipe out AIDS. On the sidelines of the summit, the Deputy Prime Minister met with the Managing Director of the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS, the Managing Director of the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, the US’s global coordinator on AIDS and the Director of the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief.
