(VOVworld) – A high-level Vietnamese delegation, led by Defense Minister General Phung Quang Thanh, is attending the ninth ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting that opened on Monday in Langkawi, Malaysia.

During the meeting, the ASEAN Defense Ministers will discuss emerging issues in regional security, including the Islamic State’s recruitment of militants to fight in the Middle-East and North Africa, cyber security, maritime security, and anti-piracy efforts in the East Sea. The ministers will also discuss Malaysia’s initiative on forming an ASEAN Peacekeeping Force.
The Vietnamese delegation has submitted a review which draws lessons from the last decade and shapes an agenda for ADMM over the next 5 to 10 years.
