Spokesman Le Hai Binh
(VOVworld) – Spokesman for the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry, Le Hai Binh, told reporters about Vietnam’s response to the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations’ hearings on the East Sea issues. “Peace, stability, security, and maritime safety in the East Sea are the aspiration and interest of all countries. Relevant parties should resolve disputes by peaceful measures in line with international law, especially the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, abide by the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), and work to finalize the Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (COC). Vietnam appreciates all international efforts, including by the US, to maintain peace, stability, and cooperation in the East Sea, and support ASEAN and the implementation of the DOC and the completion of the COC.”
Regarding Canada’s decision to drop the anti-dumping investigation into oil country tubular goods (OCTG) imported from Vietnam, Mr. Binh said it was an appropriate decision that reflected the real situation in the Canadian market and matched the economic interests of the producers, exporters, and Canadian consumers. Vietnam urged trade disputes to be resolved based on international law, trade liberalization principles, multilateral commitments, and Vietnamese-Canadian trade relations.
