Indian ambassador to Vietnam Shrimati Preeti Saran expressed her hope that Vietnam-India cooperative ties will continue to improve in all fields. Harish Taparia, Chairman of the Indian Business Chamber in Vietnam, said the trade relationship between the two countries grew sharply in 2013 with two-way trade increasing 33 percent.
Investment activity between the two also increased dramatically, focused mainly in tea, pharmaceutical products, information technology, and energy. The two countries hope to raise bilateral trade turnover to 15 billion USD by 2020.
