(VOVworld) – Vietnam is always an active, responsible member of the UN, said President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan while receiving outgoing the UN’s Resident Coordinator in Vietnam, Pratibha Mehta, in Hanoi on Tuesday.

Nhan hailed Ms. Mehta for her initiatives and contributions to Vietnam’s development during her 5-year term. He said he hopes in her new post, she will help Vietnam to promote democracy and further involve young people in the country’s development.

Ms. Mehta said she was impressed with Vietnam’s accomplishments while working here and expressed her hope that her successor would help Vietnam develop further in all fields.
