According to InterNations' survey, Vietnam ranks 9th in terms of making expats feel welcome, highlighting the country's hospitality towards foreign residents. The positive rating of 83% for friendliness has a significant impact on the well-being of expats. One Belgian expat even mentioned that Vietnam is less stressful than many other places due to the natural smiles of its people.

The survey conducted by InterNations involved 12,000 expats living in 174 countries worldwide. Among the top 10 most welcoming countries, five are in Asia, with two in Southeast Asia. The remaining five spots were taken by North Central America, South America, and Europe.

Portugal claims the top position in terms of friendliness towards foreign residents, surpassing Taiwan (China) and Mexico, which secured second and third places respectively.
