President Phuc said that “cooperation among countries, partners, and actors within the food systems must serve the interest of the people”, and that food security lays the groundwork for eradicating poverty, improving living standards, and promoting the transparent, responsible, and sustainable development of Vietnamese agriculture.

“It's necessary to invest in agricultural infrastructure conducive to agricultural production and rural economic development, and the private sector should be encouraged to make responsible investments. We should expand public-private partnerships, formulate and frequently update a National Nutrition-Balanced Plan as the basis for production and distribution,” Mr. Phuc said.

President Phuc underlined the need to step up education and information dissemination to create a healthy food system, appropriate nutrition-balanced diets, and green and responsible consumption, and prevent wastefulness.

He said digitalization needs to be accompanied by policy and institutional reforms that revolve around farmers and consumers. Vietnam has established innovative networks and stands ready to participate in cooperation arrangements led by the UN, according to the President.
