President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan said at the launch ceremony in Hanoi on Monday that the “Green Agriculture” program reflects a determination to produce green food for domestic consumers and for export. He said the program should encourage farmers to heed food safety standards and help them increase production, build trademarks, and find product outlets. Mr. Nhan said: “We cannot develop new-style rural areas without safe agricultural production. The “Green Agriculture” program has 3 goals: promote green farm produce, support farmers in their green production, and broaden the market for safe food. We should work together to create green agriculture for the Vietnamese people and for export”.
The Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) announced a credit package worth 2.5 billion USD to expand safe agricultural production in Vietnam.
