(VOVworld) - Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro expressed his appreciation Thursday to domestic and world supporters who collected signatures demanding that US President Barack Obama repeal his executive order stigmatizing Venezuela. Maduro said the petition should make Obama recognize that Venezuela is not a security threat to the US as stated in the executive order and he should revoke the order. Maduro added that late President Hugo Chavez's legacy has united Latin American nations, which are now moving towards a new independence.

The campaign received worldwide support, notably from the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR), the Bolivarian Alternative for the People of Our America (ALBA), the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
