(VOVworld) – The Youth Union of Vinh Linh district, Quang Tri province, launched a campaign yesterday to collect 5,000 signatures and money to support fishermen.

The Union presented 10 gifts, worth nearly 1,000 USD each, to 10 poor families to encourage fishermen to keep on contributing to the defense of Vietnam’s sea and island sovereignty. Phu Yen Telecom and Vinaphone sponsored a program in Phu Yen province to support fishermen. The program gave 2,000 free sim cards, worth approximately 19 USD each, to fishermen in the central southern coastal province of Phu Yen. Using these sim cards, fishermen can make domestic calls at half price, receive free sea weather forecasts and other useful information.
