US, UK issue joint statement on climate change

(VOVWORLD) - A US-UK joint statement on fighting climate change was announced on Monday at a meeting between John Kerry, a US climate change envoy, and Alok Sharma, UK Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and President Designate of COP26, the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference.

The statement showed the two countries’ determination to reduce emissions and fulfil their environmental protection commitments.

They pledged to reduce their greenhouse emissions to zero by 2050, and called on all nations to keep the global temperature rise as close to 1.5C as possible by reducing exhaust emissions to zero.

The statement expressed a readiness to cooperate with all nations in fulfilling the Paris Agreement on Climate Change and to promote further dialogues.
