(VOVWORLD) - The US has continued not to list Vietnam as a currency manipulator. Spokesperson for the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry Pham Thu Hang on Thursday says the most recent US report contains a positive assessment of Vietnam’s management of monetary and exchange rate policies, saying that Vietnam does not manipulate currency.

Hang said: “The US Treasury Department’s November 7 report on the macroeconomic and foreign exchange policies of major US trading partners put 6 economies, including Vietnam, on its monitoring list. This series of reports affirmed that Vietnam does not manipulate currency and provided positive comments on the results of Vietnam’s monetary and exchange rate policies."

"In the coming time, in the spirit of the Joint Declaration on upgrading US‑Vietnam relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation and development, Vietnam will continue to maintain close cooperation and regular information exchanges with the United States to share data, increase mutual understanding, and remove remaining obstacles in their bilateral relationship, especially in economics and trade to put Vietnam and the US on a stable, sustainable track suitable to the interests of both sides,” said Hang.
