US, Russia pledge to promote ties

During talks, Obama and Putin highlighted achievements in US-Russia relations made over the past three years, including cooperation on Afghanistan and Iran, the conclusion and ratification of the new Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, and Russia's recent accession to the World Trade Organization. The two leaders outlined areas for future cooperation, including boosting trade and investment ties, and agreed to continue discussing ways to narrow differences over issues such as the Syria crisis, and the missile defense shield.
