The order affects approximately 532,000 individuals, primarily from Latin America, who arrived in the US under a program introduced by the Joe Biden administration in October 2022 and expanded in January 2023.
Under the new ruling, these individuals will lose their legal protection 30 days after the Department of Homeland Security publishes the order in the Federal Register, expected on March 25.
This means they will be required to leave the country by April 24 unless they obtain another legal immigration status permitting them to stay.
