President Trump said on Twitter that the World Trade Organization found that the EU subsidies to Airbus have adversely impacted the US, which will now put tariffs on 11 billion USD of EU products. 

Robert Lighthizer, the US Trade Representative said the ultimate goal is to reach an agreement with the EU to end all WTO-inconsistent subsidies to large civil aircraft, adding that when the EU ends these harmful subsidies, the additional US duties imposed in response will be lifted.
