(VOVworld)- US President Barack Obama on Wednesday afternoon left Ho Chi Minh city, concluding his official 3-day visit to Vietnam.

During his stay, President Obama met Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Tran Dai Quang, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan. During talks with Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang, both sides discussed measures to bolster bilateral ties and issues of mutual concern. Mr. Obama announced that Washington fully lifts lethal weapons ban on Vietnam. After the talks, both presidents chaired the press conference attended by hundreds of reporters.

At a meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, both sides exchanged views on ways to increase the Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership with priority given to development cooperation.

President Obama delivered a 30-minute address to 2,000 Vietnamese intellectuals, students and business people at the National Convention Center in Hanoi, saying that the Americans will be faithful friends of Vietnam.

In Ho Chi Minh city, after visiting 100-year-old Ngoc Hoang Temple, Mr. Obama talked with Ngo Huynh Ngoc Khanh, a student of Ho Chi Minh City’s University of Social Sciences and Humanities about a laser cutter controlled via the internet. Later, he met three young entrepreneurs, Le Hoang Uyen Vy, founder of Adayroi.com, Do Thi Thuy Hang, Vice president of Retail Group Seedcom, and Khoa Pham, Director of Legal and Corporate Affairs, Microsoft Vietnam. He also talked with 800 young Vietnamese leaders of the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) before leaving Ho Chi Minh city for Japan.
