Kirby said the US had increased its regional force posture and shared Israel's concerns about a possible Iranian-backed attack.
He told reporters that the US shares the same concerns and expectations as Israel with respect to potential timing here, adding that the US has to be prepared for what could be a significant set of attacks.
This came after US President Joe Biden's discussions with the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Italy as the US seeks to de-escalate the situation in the region.
Meanwhile, Israel's military is monitoring Iran and Hezbollah around the clock for potential retaliatory strikes, according to Israel Defense Forces spokesperson Daniel Hagari.
