(VOVworld) – Head of the Task Force for Ukraine at the German Federal Foreign Office Johannes Regenbreht said Berlin was ready to welcome any change in the Normandy format if this action could resolve the situation in the Donbass Region of eastern Ukraine, following Ukraine’s proposal to include the US in the Normandy Format.

He stressed that it was clearly understandable that no progress in settling the conflict in eastern Ukraine could be achieved without close cooperation with the US. A new meeting of the Normandy Four countries’ leaders (France, Germany, Russia, and Ukraine), devoted to settling the conflict in eastern Ukraine, may take place within the next few weeks.
