(VOVworld) –Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida and his US counterpart John Kerry have discussed measures to strengthen the bilateral ties in all fields and issues of mutual concerns.

Addressing a joint press briefing after their foreign ministerial talks in Washington on Friday, US Secretary of State John Kerry said the US will be unable to reach targets set for the region and the world if both countries will not cooperate tightly. Secretary Kerry affirmed the US always respects its obligations in line with the bilateral security treaty with Japan under which the US will defend Tokyo including East China Sea waters if it’s attacked.

Japanese Foreign Minister Kishida said both sides agreed on orientations to boost the ally relations in various aspects affirming that Japan and the US will work closely with each other to contribute to regional and global peace and stability. Kishida said both reaffirmed their commitment to working closely on concluding a Trans-Pacific Partnership free trade agreement early and the denuclearization in the Korean peninsula.
