US hopes to resume talks with North Korea

(VOVWORLD) - US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Monday he hopes working-level talks to revive denuclearization talks with North Korea could occur very soon but emphasized that a follow up leaders' summit was not planned.

Mr. Pompeo said he is looking forward to innovative measures to resolve the deadlock related to Washington's demands for Pyongyang's complete denuclearization and North Korean demands for sanctions relief.

A February summit in Vietnam between Trump and Kim collapsed after the two sides failed to reach an agreement. The two leaders agreed to resume working-level talks following their historic June 30 meeting in the Demilitarized Zone separating the two Koreas.
