(VOVWORLD) - Western media reported Wednesday that the US has temporarily halted several big arms shipments to Ukraine.

These shipments were promised under the administration of former President Joe Biden. The decision was partly based on concerns about the level of domestic defense stockpiles.

White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly said the decision was made to prioritize US interests, following a comprehensive review by the Department of Defense of military assistance and defense aid provided to countries worldwide.

In an email, the Pentagon said it is submitting options to President Trump for continuing military aid to Ukraine, aligning with the goal of ending the conflict.
Elbridge Colby, Undersecretary of Defense for Policy, said the US Department of Defense is seriously evaluating and adjusting its approach to achieve that objective and ensure the readiness of US forces for current defense priorities.

The US has not yet announced any new military aid policy. All US arms aid was briefly suspended in February and again for a longer period in March.
