(VOVworld) – US film director Sandy Northdrop’s latest documentary for Retro Report, a website sponsored by the New York Times, has provoked a strong response from the US public to the Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin, which was sprayed by the US Army during the Vietnam War and has had serious consequences for US war veterans and generations of Vietnamese people.

During the filming of the documentary “Agent Orange: Last Chapter of the Vietnam War”, Director Sandy Northrop visited many AO/dioxin victims in Vietnam. Her meetings with them touched her heart and completely changed her mind.

She told VOV:“We’re surprised to learn that we haven’t found any scientific ground to prove that Agent Orange is directly to blame for more than 20 diseases, including Hodgkin’s lymphoma and Parkinson’s… In Vietnam, we have found all of those AO/dioxin consequences. Some people were born without limbs, or with six or ten fingers in one hand. The United States of America has not borne any financial or ethical responsibility so they decided to help Vietnam in the form of humanitarian activities. After 40 years of lobbying, the wheel of justice has finally turned”. Northrop said Vietnam’s lawsuit against US chemical companies are important even though they have not been successful.

They revealed AO wounds of both Vietnamese people and US veterans that have not yet been healed. She expressed a hope that her documentary will help younger generations better understand Vietnam War consequences caused by the US army.
