(VOVworld) – US President Barack Obama said Thursday that he supports Hillary Clinton in the US presidential race.

Speaking in a video released by Ms. Clinton, Obama said she is the most qualified person to be President. He pointed out that Ms. Clinton will be the first female nominee in American history and said he will join her campaign in Wisconsin next week. The speech was made after Obama met with Bernie Sanders, Clinton’s rival in the Democratic Party.

Obama’s endorsement of Ms. Clinton signals an end to the Democratic race. Clinton thanked the President and said his endorsement is important.

Mr. Sanders said Thursday that he will ally with Ms. Clinton against Republican candidate Donald Trump. He told reporters after his meeting with President Obama that he will continue to campaign for the primary in Washington DC next week and he wants to work with Ms. Clinton to defeat Mr. Trump.
