(VOVworld) – The US military said on Sunday that it has airdropped weapons, ammunition, and medical supplies to Kurdish forces defending the Syrian city of Kobane against Islamic State militants.

US Central Command said US C-130 cargo planes made multiple drops of arms and supplies provided by Kurdish authorities in Iraq to enable continued resistance to Islamic State efforts to take full control of Kobane.
Meanwhile, visiting Indonesia for Joko Widodo’s presidential inauguration on Monday, US Secretary of State John Kerry met with Southeast Asian leaders to seek more help in the US-led effort against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. He urged Southeast Asian countries to be more active in the fight against the IS. The East Sea disputes, climate change, and Ebola were also discussed on this occasion.
