Ty received Chairman of the US House Foreign Affairs Sub-Committee on Asia and the Pacific Ted Yoho in Hanoi on Monday. He suggested that the US Congress continue boosting two-way trade, including facilitating the export of Vietnamese catfish to the US market.
Vietnam hopes that the US would continue assisting the country in improving the capacity of its coast guards as well as search and rescue efforts. Vietnam would also prefer further promotion of the national defense industry, with priority given to shipbuilding, maritime supervision, training of officers, English language training, and military medicine, he said.
Congressman Yoho hailed Vietnam as a significant trade partner of the US and suggested that both sides deal with existing issues to look towards a brighter future for later generations.
