(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam earned more than 56.7 billion USD from the export of agro-forestry and fishery products, up 19% from  2023, with the US being the biggest buyer, according to a workshop in Hanoi on Tuesday.

Exports to major markets enjoyed year-on-year growth, with wood and wood products ranking first at 14.6 billion USD, followed by seafood, fruits and vegetables, rice, coffee, cashew nuts, rubber, and pepper.

The US topped the list of Vietnam's key markets, accounting for nearly 22% of total export value.

Nguyen Thi Hong Thanh, an expert from the Center for Agricultural and Rural Development Information, said the US is a large and promising market for Vietnamese agricultural products.

“There is high demand for seafood, particularly key products like pangasius and shrimp, which are well-favored in the US. The US timber market is also substantial, with a projected growth rate of approximately 1.1% from 2024 to 2029,"  said Thanh.
