(VOVworld) – US President Barack Obama told Chinese President Xi Jinping that he wants US-Chinese relations defined by more cooperation and a constructive management of differences during a phone call on Tuesday.

According to a White House statement, the two leaders also discussed global and regional issues of mutual concern including the controversial nuclear programs of Iran and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. Mr. Obama expressed his hope that the US and China will cooperate further at ongoing negotiations in Vienna, Austria between Iran and the P5+1 including the US, Britain, France, China, Russia and Germany to reach a comprehensive agreement on Tehran’s nuclear program before the deadline of July 20th.  The White House statement said Obama stressed the need for communication and coordinated actions with China to ensure Pyongyang realizes its commitment of denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula.
