This is the third meeting in the two months since Benjamin Netanyahu resumed the position of Israel’s Prime Minister.

The closed meeting, attended by UN Middle East envoy Tor Wennesland, was held at the request of the United Arab Emirates and the Arab League in response to a call from the Palestinian Authority.

On Monday, Wennesland called on Israel and the Palestinian Authority to take steps to address the root causes of the conflict between the two sides.

He expressed deep concern about the deteriorating security situation in the West Bank, especially the outbreak of violence in Huwwara town.
