(VOVworld) – Delegates discussed latest research results on emerging population issues including those regarding birth rates and the aging population at a seminar held on Thursday by the United Nations Population Fund in Viet Nam (UNFPA) with members of the National Assembly. The seminar aims to update National Assembly deputies with latest information on the issues to devise population policies and oversee the implementation of such policies in the coming years while defining other necessary policies in response to consequences caused by population changes. Speaking at the seminar, Chairman of the National Assembly Committee for Social Affairs, Truong Thi Mai, hailed the event as a useful venue for delegates to share experiences and update information regarding the issues. She underscored the need to integrate the national population program into other national socioeconomic development programs.
