At a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son in Hanoi on Monday, Assomo pledged that the World Heritage Centre will continue to support Vietnam in conserving and promoting its world heritage sites and offer consultation and assistance in managing, preserving, and promoting Vietnam’s world heritage sites.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son appreciated Mr. Assomo’s visit as an important event and expressed his delight at the achievements in Vietnam-UNESCO cooperation since his first visit to Vietnam in 2023.
Mr. Son highlighted the results of the meeting between Party General Secretary To Lam and UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay during the General Secretary’s visit to UNESCO in October 2024, which significantly elevated bilateral partnership. During the visit, Mr. Lam reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to implementing UNESCO conventions and shared Vietnam’s vision of making culture an internal driver for rapid and sustainable national development.
On this occasion, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Sơn presented Mr. Assomo with the “For the Cause of Vietnam’s Diplomacy” insignia in recognition of his outstanding contributions to preserving and promoting Vietnam’s heritage values and strengthening Vietnam–UNESCO cooperation.
