At its 47th session in Paris, France, UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee granted World Heritage status to the transboundary "Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park and Hin Nam No National Park".
Vietnam now has nine World Heritage Sites, including two inter-provincial sites and the first transboundary site Phong Nha-Ke Bang-Hin Nam No.
The UNESCO recognition will be a model for the first transboundary world heritage management so that Vietnam can contribute its practical experience according to the 1972 UNESCO Convention on the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage.
