UNESCO honors progenitor of Vietnam’s traditional medicine

(VOVWORLD) -UNESCO honored progenitor of Vietnamese traditional medicine Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac on the occasion of his 300th birth anniversary at a ceremony in Ha Tinh on Friday evening.  

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO Nguyen Minh Vu presented the UNESCO Resolution honoring Vietnam's great physician.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man presented flowers of congratulations.

Representatives of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented the certificate of recognition of the Tomb and Memorial Area of Le Huu Trac in Huong Son district as a special national relic site.

Born in 1724 in Hai Duong province, Le Huu Trac, whose pen name is Hai Thuong Lan Ong, devoted his entire life to researching and summarizing experiences, elevating theories on medical ethics, theory, techniques and pharmacy, bringing Vietnamese medicine closer to world medicine.

His book "Hai Thuong Y Tong Tam Linh" is considered an encyclopedia of traditional medicine, with universal value for humanity, and a compass for the noble mission of the physician.
