The spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General expressed the UN’s deep concern over the violence erupting in Pakistan. The UN urged Islamabad to expand counter-terrorism against Islamic extremist activities to protect the religious freedom of Pakistani citizens.
US State Department Spokesperson Marie Harf said Pakistan is responsible for protecting the Pakistani people by conducting counter-terrorist efforts. White House spokesperson Josh Earnest said Washington deeply cares about the victims’ families and those injured in the attack. He said reconciliation with the Taliban was one of the strategic issues that Islamabad has to decide for itself.
