Andrea De Domenico, head of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the Palestinian territories, said the donation is to support the 3 million people in the West Bank and Gaza. He said 90% of the aid will go to Gaza.
Noting that famine arises due to a lack of food, hygiene, water, and health facilities, De Domenico said, that uncertainty is a daily reality for people in Gaza. He said aid deliveries in Gaza face significant checkpoint delays.
Last week 41% of UN requests to deliver aid to northern Gaza were denied, he said.
