UN Security Council rejects Russia’s call for biological weapons investigation in Ukraine

(VOVWORLD) - The UN Security Council on Wednesday rejected a Russian draft resolution calling for an investigation into an allegation that the US and Ukraine have a biological weapons program in Ukraine.

Russia and China voted in favor of the resolution. The US, the UK, and France voted against it, while the 10 non-permanent members of the Council abstained.

Russia has raised the allegation of biological and chemical weapons in Ukraine several times at the UN Security Council since it launched a “special military operation” in Ukraine. 

The US and Ukraine have denied Russia's accusations.
