(VOVworld) - The UN Security Council on Wednesday hosted an emergency meeting on North Korea’s latest Rodong ballistic missile test at the request of the US and Japan. No statement was issued after the two-hour closed meeting.

After the meeting, US Ambassador to the UN Samatha Power urged for a strong and swift response from the UN Security Council, calling the missile test by North Korea a grave threat to regional peace and security.
Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, said the UN is deeply concerned about North Korea’s recent missile tests and called on Pyongyang to heed the international community’s united call, halt activities which could increase regional tensions, and return to the negotiating table
