For the United Nations, especially its peacekeeping operations, radio is a vital way of informing, uniting, and empowering people affected by war. Many parts of the world, especially remote and vulnerable communities, have no Internet access, making radio a vital lifeline and a platform for public discussion, irrespective of education levels. It has a strong and specific role in emergency communications and disaster relief.
