The document is similar to a UN Security Council draft resolution, which Russia vetoed on March 19. The resolution states that the Crimean referendum was illegitimate and groundless regarding any status change in Crimea and calls on all UN members not to recognise any such change in Crimea or the city of Sevastopol and not to recognise the change.
In a move aiming at speeding up aid for Ukraine and relieve pressure from the Republicans, US Senator Harry Reid on Tuesday agreed to remove the IMF reform proposal for Ukraine, hoping that it may help the proposal be more easily approved by the US Congress.
