UN considers new measures to block financial resource for IS

The draft resolution was based on a resolution approved by the UN in February which prevents the trading of crude oil and antiques, bringing IS millions of USD. Speaking to the press, ambassador Samantha Power said the draft resolution will support the latest effort of the UN Security Council to block IS’s financial sources and propose new steps for further sanctions. The UN Security Council is expected to vote on this resolution on December 17.

In another development, US President Barack Obama urged Russia and Turkey to quickly get over Ankara’s shooting down of a Russian jet and focus on dealing with the IS.
