Guterres was visiting the Palestinian enclave, which is enduring "one of the most dramatic humanitarian crises" he has seen. He expressed deep concern over awful conditions in the overcrowded, impoverished enclave, where an electricity shortage has worsened and clean water is lacking. He stressed the importance of opening Israel's decade-long blockade of Gaza and the border with Egypt that has remained mostly closed in recent years.
