(VOVworld) - UN Secretary General Ban ki-moon expressed his concerns over the escalating violence along the Line of Control between India and Pakistan in the disputed area of Kashmir which has resulted in a number of casualties.

In a statement, Ban called upon India and Pakistan to exercise maximum restraint and take all feasible steps to ensure the protection of civilians. He welcomed the planned meeting between respective National Security Advisors from both sides on August 23^rd -24^th, saying that he hoped that it would lead to positive results.
