The UNSC’s Resolution 2805 was adopted with high consensus among all members, while the UNGA also passed a similar resolution without voting. The resolutions reaffirm the close linkages of development, peace, security, and human rights, while emphasizing that investment in conflict prevention is effective and cost-efficient.
The twin resolutions underscore the central role of member states in preventing conflict, building peace, and addressing the causes of violence within each country.
This is the fourth review since the UN launched its peacebuilding initiative in 2005. The resolutions call for a more comprehensive assessment of the UN’s peacebuilding activities in 2030.
