Ukraine only receives humanitarian aid from ICRC

(VOVworld) – Ukraine can accept any kind of humanitarian aid solely within international law and solely from the International Committee of the Red Cross. Interim Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said this at a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday. He said Ukraine has sent a request for support to the ICRC so the government’s essential commodities can reach the people.

Yatseniuk criticized Russia for sending convoys carrying humanitarian aid to Ukraine’s eastern region. Meanwhile, Minister of Home Affairs Arsen Avakov said Ukraine will not let the convey pass through the Kharkiv border. On Tuesday Russian Foreign Misniter Sergey Lavrov said the Ukrainian government accepted to ensure safety for 300 trucks transporting humanitarian aid to the victims of the conflict in the eastern region.
