(VOVworld) – The UK will be a global leader in free trade, said Prime Minister Theresa May, following Britain’s Brexit vote and Donald Trump’s election as the US President.

During a speech in London on Monday, May said the UK must adapt to the moment and evolve its thinking to become a global leader in free trade. She said businesses and governments must change to regain people’s trust, and do business in the right way. May cited the world’s history, saying that the UK has always been a pioneer with new ideas and approaches, so this is an opportunity for the UK to lead in opening markets and promoting free trade. May said free trade is the best way to reduce poverty, and the government needs to exert its efforts to guarantee that every citizen benefits from free trade and globalization.
