The two sides have yet to find common ground on important issues although negotiators said they are approaching a trade agreement for the post-Brexit period. EU chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier said he wants the UK to compromise more before the two sides enter the decisive final stage of negotiations.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that London is not ready to negotiate with the EU on the two sides' post-Brexit trade relations beyond October 15.
