Typhoon Kalmaegi, the 15th typhoon to hit China this year, affected business activities in Hong Kong’s special administrative region. Strong winds and heavy showers delayed 500 flights and canceled 40 others and forced the closure of the stock market, schools, and container ports. Floods struck many places in the city though no landslides have been reported. 25 injured people are being treated in hospital. The typhoon is heading towards northern Hainan island.
The typhoon had previously swept past the Philippines on Monday, causing a great deal of flooding but no casualties.
