The Vietnamese nominees are male swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang and female runner Nguyen Thi Oanh. The other two include female swimmer Jing Wen Quah of Singapore and male track and field athlete Joshua Robert Atkinson of Thailand.

Atkinson won four gold medals in 400m, 800m, 4x400m medley relay, and 4x400m relay. Oanh triumphed in the women’s 1,500m, 5,000m and 3,000m hurdles. Hoang won the gold medals in 400m freestyle, 800m freestyle, 1500m freestyle, 200m butterfly, and 4x200m freestyle relay. Meanwhile, Jing won 6 gold medals and broke 1 SEA Games record.

The list of the best male and female athletes at the 31st SEA Games will be announced at the closing ceremony of the Games on Monday evening at the Indoor Athletics Palace, Hanoi.
