Turkish strikes kill 15 at Syrian border post

(VOVWORLD) -Turkish air strikes on a Syrian border post killed 15 on Tuesday, following an overnight flare-up between Turkish forces and the Kurdish fighters who control the area, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said, without specifying if the victims were Syrian government troops or Kurdish militia.

The Turkish army stepped up shelling Kurdish areas after a Kurdish attack left one Turkish soldier dead and four injured. The Turkish army fired artillery and attacked with fighter jets. This could spark a new large-scale conflict between Turkey and Syria, and break a truce that has lasted nearly a year.
